New Interventions for Human Trafficking Victims in Queens, New York

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share this article, http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/23/nyregion/in-a-queens-court-women-arrested-for-prostitution-are-seen-as-victims.html?action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=c-column-middle-span-region&region=c-column-middle-span-region&WT.nav=c-column-middle-span-region&_r=0, I found in the NYTimes about a new intervention that is being used in Queens, New York to help victims of trafficking. While I applaud this new method of intervention, I also hope that more arrests will be made on the demand side. Currently, a group that I am part of called DC Modern Slavery is pursuing stronger lawyers against "renters" (buyers of commercial sex). Check out their work at: http://www.stopmodernslavery.org/getinvolved/advocacy-team/

I hope you find this post informative. I encourage you to get involved in this issue and share this blog with your family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and thanks for taking the time to read this post.

All the best,
Shelley
